The Provincial Schools Branch (PSB) was proud to partner with the Association for Special Education Technology (ASET) to host the first AT4ALL conference focussing on Assistive Technology (AT), "AT4ALL: Assistive Technology for All - On the Road to Success", from August 27-29, 2009 in Milton.

By all indicators, the sold-out conference was a huge success, and there is no doubt that there is a tremendous demand for this to be repeated. The conference evaluations were overwhelmingly positive, with kudos for the inspirational and informative keynote speakers: Will Richardson, David Edyburn and Todd Cunningham, and high praise for the fluid organization of the proceedings.

The conference promoted enhanced understanding of technologies in meeting the needs of all learners by:

  • Sharing evidenced-based research on the efficacy of a variety of AT tools for learning;
  • Furthering the role of AT in supporting differentiated instruction;
  • Supporting educator, student and parental awareness of the role of AT in life-long learning.
